The bee and honey world recently took a leap that re-shaped the way we interact with the imperiled pollinators.

A family of humble third generation bee keepers from NSW Australia pleasantly surprised the crowdfunding world when they introduced the “Flow Hive”, a hive that allows the backyard beekeeper to simply tap the hive of it’s honey without bothering the bees so that they can keep on keeping on!

Within 15 minutes the campaign attracted $250,000 worth of pre-orders, and by the end of the Indiegogo campaign over 4.25 million dollars was raised, placing the Flow Hive among the most successful crowdfunding campaigns in history.

As you might have expected for such an ingenious invention with ecological benefits, Dave Rastovich has been an outspoken supporter of the Flow hive. Check out the video above to see why.
